Not bad!

I liked the intro, it was pretty calm, but it let you know that there was going to be some energy in the song. Your "scream" sounded a little bit like you whispered it but it did it's job well enough. . .

It seemed like the whole song was just a little bit lighter than you might have intended, as far as getting a "heavier" sound my only advice would be to add a compresser to the bass you want so you can amplify it a bit more, or maybe you just need a better synthesizer, I can recommend some good ones if you want.

The drums weren't too bad overall and helped build some energy to the song.
I liked some of the panning you had with them it was really nice

The song overall was pretty repetitive, but you added a fair amount of effects and drops and calm parts, so you kept it pretty interesting.

The guitars reminded me a bit of doom at time, which is awesome, doom had a great soundtrack! :P

Overall not too bad, a little repetitive but I liked the song overall. . .

Thanks a lot. I'd be interested in whatever synths you'd have to offer. Right now the best option for this system is 3xOSC so my computer doesn't lag but when I upgrade I'd love to be able to get a deeper sound. I don't remember if I put a compressor on the bass, but I know I did layer it with quite a few different oscillators with different setting and distortion. The scream was whispered, but initially I just through that in there to work some form of vocal mixing. I agree about the repetitiveness as well, but I think that might have happened with my desire to add some form of dynamics to the song. I didn't quite get the noise level I want, but it's a start.

Thanks for the review!

Xkore, Y U NO GIVE US FULL SONGS!

Awesome though, I like a bunch of these, I'm really looking forward to whatever it is that you make next, your an amazing artist and I really think you deserve some kind of record label with your name on it!

All of these are just little teases of awesome songs that may or may not be, you've got a really awesome variance of sounds here, some epic some massive, some wild, some serious, and almost every kind of mood!

You're not just good at dubstep or dark and deep, but with these awesome piano beats, and all the different sounds you have, it's really amazing that these are all from the same person, your really really great at what you do, don't ever stop, really, just make music forever!

Nice!

You have a really good sound with this, it sounds really good!

It's a nice ambient track (maybe stick it in ambient instead of trance, the latter generally has more melody variation)

So it was repetitive, but it would be good for menu music or something I think.

It's got some pretty suble variations and stuff you had too, and those were great, I'd just recommend switching up everything a time or two, to keep your listeners from getting bored. Again you added some more at the end, just I'd recommend switching melodies AND adding in extra melodies and effect with a variation, that helps keep it really interesting!

Nice work overall!

Thanks for the tips. I am still keeping this in Trance though. I guess you can call it Ambient Trance. ;)

Pretty good.

Good intro, I liked the way you brought in the melody. I like that lead that came in, it sounded good.

I think it's a little slow for dance and maybe you could double time it on that hat, just to push the song a little bit more.

I still think this one needs some more bass to it. Just a deep background bass, but something to fill it out some more, it just feels a little empty as it is now.

It got a little repetitive even with some melody changes, I'd have changed the instrumentation around a little earlier and had a back and forth between a couple different synths so you have that dance feel.

It was pretty good, just could use a little fleshing out!

Stavier responds:

I see what you mean. Yeah, wasn't really sure wha genre so maybe Techno, but I'll leave it as it is for now & edit it later. I'll see what I can do with the hats & I'll add a bass/sub. I can most certainly take off repetitiveness. I'll PM you when I'm done editing it. Thanx again for reviewin'

Kill me Mr LFO!

Awesome, what do you use for your wobble? Massive, or something else?

I liked the drums and the snare was tight, a suggestion to improve on that a little bit if on the downbeat of your song you add a reversed either crash or snare, depending on the sound you want right before your snare hit to build up to it, it creates a really cool effect. It's a fairly commonly used technique in dubstep. Whether or not you ever try it I really like it, and it's something I learned from Xkore, so it can be too bad to do :P

I liked the bassline but I felt it was just a little overpowered by the higher synths. Especially in dubstep I feel it's important for you wobble line (if you use one) to be above everything else.

I don't know if the title quite fit the song, it sounds pretty epic but with your title I was expecting something a little more brutal, eh IDK I don't deduct points for bad titles, I have a hard enough time with making up my own lol. . .

Nice work overall, looking forward to the full version!

ME WANT COOKIE!

#1Like your use of Gross beats, it runs pretty good with the intro to the song. I like the way you jumped around with your tempo though I though the change to a slower tempo was too abrupt sounding. Maybe finish this one?

#2 Has a nice mood to it I could see it a happy kinda serious type of thing. . . I like some of the synths and stuff you used, it was pretty good

#3 I have to complain, I don't like the timbre of the piano, you need something a little less twingy I think. . . I like the main melody of it and the progression was good

#4 Had a really weird feeling to it, it felt like you were jumping back and forth from minor to major

#5 Liked the buildup, still, you need a better sounding piano

#6 reminded me just a little of Paradise on E

7# same a #6, you should do another mix, I really liked your other one.
The orchestral stuff was good. And it put a good spin on it

#8 It sounded like it could jump into an ultimate badass dance song and I was disapointed that it didn't extend further. I'd ask for you to finish this one as super crazy dance

#9 A decent piano in this one, I hate to pick, but I'm an actual pianist.
I liked the progression though it was a little simple

#10 Really like the piano in this one, it has a really good mood to it.

#11 Sounds a little crazy, the drunk dance song or something lol. I like the main synth, what'd you use to get that sound?

#12 Mario sounding/pizza place or something IDK this is a remix from mario right? It sounds really familiar. . .

#13 Like the drums in this one I'd like your sub to be a bit more powerful, but just a tad, and maybe some sidechaining would be cool

#14 Sounds pretty 8-bit, nothing wrong with that. Could be used in one of those retro games that people make, it's got energy to it but it's pretty relaxed. I think you could add some more to it to fill it out, but a good start

#15 Ravers fantasy much??? I like the feeling you gave to it, not generally something you hear in the remixes for it, and you changed it a lot from the original so it's pretty good.

#16 More piano stuff, you seem to have some similar melodies as some of the other ones, but you varied it up with some pretty good synths and I really liked it when the main melody dropped. I think it needed a sub to help fill it out some, but I liked the main progression on this one too.

#17 Maybe a happy lovey dovey song idk really short

Do I get a cookie now???

If I don't make any sense it's because these reviews were written while I listened to the song and then I jumped on to the next one. I guess you could say I'm somewhat of a fan of you, and you are one of the few newgrounds artist who grace my Ipod with their music so it's good to see you at least putting out demos/unfinished ideas.

I'd appreciate it if you took a minute to listen to one or two of my songs, it would mean a lot to me.

Overall I'd say 8 or 9 IDK It's hard to average out what I think of 17 songs but I really liked all of em, nothing bad, just I liked some more than others

Omega

Catstuffer responds:

Wow. In 4 years of posting music on newgrounds, this is the longest most detailed review I've ever gotten! Thanks so much for taking the time to review every pice! I'm amazed!

Some of this stuff is from 2009, 10, and 11. And it's not in chronological order (on purpose) so you can't really see a progression. I totally agree that some are much better than others, and since all are pretty much intros I never get to a limax in these demos where the song could really take off I guess. I'll for sure give your music a listen! You definitely deserve it. Oh and your cookie should be arriving shortly. You can expect it to arrive when Half-Life 3 comes out soooo 20 years? xD

Thanks for being generous, on those pieces where the piano sounds like junk, I had no good piano VST to work with lol. You heard how to piano was much nicer in some.

Thanks again for the incredible review and listening the whole way through!

Nice

I really like it!
This song has really grown on me, It's a little strange but it's really neat!

I think you edited it a bit more since I last heard it, it sounds good!

Do you FL studios? I think I remember you saying you didn't but that may have been someone else, IDK just wondering what you used.

Like I said before I think there are a few places where you have several melodies on top of each other where it gets to be a little chaotic, but I think it's really good!

Omega

Stavier responds:

Thanx you very much. Yeah, I don't use FL cuz I don't want to buy it yet. I mean I know I can get the loops & all that, but I'll spend my money some other time. Actually didn't edit the version I sent, it just sounded better on newgrounds cuz Newgrounds equalizes the songs good, maybe some feedback dependin' on the song, but still good. I agree with the hectic parts, but if I left that one synth it wouldn't work. I tryed the keynote hit lower the 2nd time, but it sounded weird. Thanx again for reviewin'!!!!

Nice

Had a really good ambience to it, never heard of oxide, but this is a pretty cool song.

I think your kick drum had a little bit too much a thump to it, not that it was too loud but the type of kick you used I think was a bit off. . . Idk exactly but maybe something a little less potent. . .

Other than that it's pretty good and I really like it!

Omega

Nice!

Interesting title, and a nice smooth intro, I like that in my songs.

You brought in the melody well that one running synth you had towards the first part of the song sounded just a little tinny methinks but I liked it's progression.

I liked the main melody of the song and it had a good feel to it.
Really reminded me of some of F-777's stuff, it's a similar style. Which is great, because he's an amazing hero at music and you did a great job with this!

Also a few of your drum sample, IDK I don't know how well they fit, they were ok, but I think it would work a little better if you had some better samples. . .

And yeah, ending was kind of sudden, it's alright though, stuff happens.

Great work

Omega

Omnivore responds:

Sheesh, lots of people are telling me about this 'F-777' guy and I don't even know who he is.. Thanks for the review!

Just writing music, I hope to produce someday, so check out my stuff will ya?
