Ehhh

Not bad, I liked the intro.

That melody you brought in at :41 did not go with the main melodies return at :55 (the only thing I can see it being used as is some weird chase scene)

It just didn't really go with it, it was out of harmony. . .
I liked your synths and the drums weren't bad.

Only thing is the main part of the song was a out of tune or something. . .

Good effort, I can't really suggest some moderate changes cause you really have to pick between one of the two melodies, the dark one or the happy one.

It like trying to play in G maj in your left hand and F minor in the right. . .
Just doesn't mix well.

If you use the happy part, try picking something (maybe even the dark sounding synth) and then alter the notes in it so that it goes along rather than against the main melody.

The second synth was to give the track a rave feel. But I suppose I failed at it >.< Im still a noob at producing though So its ok ^^

Zelda is a good game series. . .

Not too shabby, I think it was a little overly simple (good job for practice) and that pad you introduced was a little out of place sounding. . .

Again not bad, just simple (one thing about the pad, it made it sound like it was about to explode into an epic dance piece. . . I might have to do that now.)

Omega

And check out my music if you want. I've got some good stuff (I think. . . :P)

Free2Play responds:

I totally would've busted into a dance, or did something more epic but I don't have the full FL studios and I can't save. I only did what I could within about 1 1/2 hours before I had to leave lol. It really was practice though, and yeah the pad could've been better, I think it was just too much going on maybe not sure.

I like it a ton!!!

The pad has a dissonance (the notes are right, just the way it sounds) but I really like the dissonance, it makes for a slightly tensed up air.

HUGE improvement, digging it!

Stavier responds:

Thanx you very much, yea an 8 is definetly good enough for me. Thanx again for reviewin' that it was better & be on the look out for my song Upbeat Life :)

Dub-epic!

Excellent work!

I'm a huge dubstep fan (everything from excision to dub-crooks to Xkore, bar9, flux pavillion. Basically everything)

But too much dubstep is just KICK SNARE WOBOWBOWOBWOWBWOWOWOW!!!!!!!!

And this brings a classical element to the aforementioned timbre.
A mixing of epic proportions!!!

Props for keeping it from falling apart cause of all the different sections.

I do agree with everyone, there sure is some mixing you could fix (couldn't tell you how, I'm still learning. Just have an ear for it)

But you've blown everything straight outta the water with this,

So congratulations epic work!

Omega

(I'd really appreciate it if you'd give my stuff a listen, at least one song ;) how bout my "One more day" track. Thanks!)

mr-jazzman responds:

Haha I love how you mention xKore as a classic dubstep producer, when him and I are in the same boat trying to get our stuff known lol! Thanks for the honest review man, much appreciated! =)

Awww yeah

Hard to criticize my own work lol, I really like your use of Eurogate and the sub-bass added some more "meat" to it. I like the more electric feel of this too.

Those stops were awesome, and I think the strings would have clashed with the eurogate so removing them was a good call.

Nice work,

Omega

TheBlackbyrd responds:

... Uhh Actually the strings never made a sound.. lol so they didnt affect anything. plus im using an older version of FL Studio.

Not bad. . .

Not bad, a little simple, and I think you drifted away from the original feeling you started out with and returned with it at the end, it didn't sound bad it was just kinda like a mood change that was a bit abrupt.

What'd you make the kick from, I really liked it!
And the piano was good too, you don't see enough of that normally,
glad someones incorporating it into their work.

Nice work, just build onto what you've got and stretch it out a bit.

Omega

xXGuessWhatXx responds:

Yeah, lol, you're right. It was abrupt because I totally went blank while thinking of how to finish the melody, then I came back and added in what was more similar to the beginning. I've actually been wanting to add a piano into more of my loops/samples. Oh, I usually just take the basic kick and add these effects: Fruity Chorus, Multiband Compressor, Soundgoodizer, and (most importantly) Gross Beat. It gives it that warped sound at the beginning. Yup, I'm thinking I'll find a way of stretching this out to where I like it. (Oh, it's Basic 8 on Gross Beat.) Thanks for the review, man. :D

Nice Work

I really liked your take on this song, there are a couple notes that you missed (not like miss-hit but just skipped, that happens when you mix by ear. . .)
Great job on it otherwise, your synths were comparable but had a different feel.
Nice work with those.

This also felt a little more dreamy than paragons, which is cool.

Good work!

Omega

*Shameless " look at my songs plz! " request here* ;)

Daydream-Anatomy responds:

Thanks,
Glad it sounds good, I used a lot of synths, so it's nice to hear they match up.
And I'm surprised that you found mine more dreamyO.o pretty flattering.

I'll check out your song.:3

Not a bad start

The drums were good but the main bass. . I dunno it started out pretty good but it got hard to follow, it sounded like you were switching key signatures too fast there for a bit,

Also what do you produce with? If you use FL and Sytrus for your basses (and if you don't, it's fantastic! Check out my Misc track for some of the stuff you can do with it)
Basically what gives a lot of dub tracks their feel is the same note wobbling at different speeds to go along with everything else.
If I can help you, shoot me a PM and I'll be glad to!

Also try adding a little more Bass into the main instrument, it sounded a little too high, or not enough power to it, either or. . .

Also it didn't loop well. If you develope it into a song that won't be a problem

Keep working at it!

Omega

ReWired responds:

Thanks for the review. I use FL and I make all my sounds with a program called Sylenth1. I did notice a section where the bass got off so I'll go back and fix that. Also I wasn't too worried about the loop since I threw this together in 30 minutes and wanted some opinions before I moved on. Ill definitely shoot you a PM if I need any more help and feel free to PM me.

Not quite a racing sound. . .

Just IMO though I don't think it quite fits the title, it sounds more like. . . I dunno, retreat to victory?. .

Whatever, regardless this is one awesome song it's so driving yet it sounds calm. I just can't get over that, I've looped is so many times!!!

Kinda repetitive but it changed enough to keep it from getting boring, I really liked the synth, what did you build it on? (or what is it called :P)

Anyway, good job, check my stuff if you don't mind.

Keep drivin,

Omega

TheBlackbyrd responds:

Thanks for the feedback. Actually this is still a work in progress and its going to be modified every so often until it meets my criteria. And the name was just something so it had a name. I plan on changing it if i think of a new one.

Good work!

The beginning portion was awesome and the synth you brought in at 51 secs sounded good and went well with everything else.

The changeup you did at 1:17 was great and went right along with the rest of the song. I liked the return to the original melody after that and it really sounded great!

At 2:08 it really calmed down, it didn't sound bad, it just seemed weird compared to the rest of the song. . .
After which you went into what sounded like a different key, I dunno quite how to say, it just sounded a little out of key (literally, well musically anyway)
Enough rambling, basically it sounded like you went from upbeat to a darker tone without enough of a transition.

The ending was good and returned to the feeling of the first part of the song a little more.

I really liked it, and you did a great job with this one! 8/10 5/5 (cause its in no way a 3.30 ;)

Omega

Omnivore responds:

Thanks for the epic review (probably the longest ive gotten) As for the out of key parts, Ive been trying to keep it Non-Repetetive. Most of my older songs are EXTREMELY repetetive. I actually feel like I rushed this song after having the program crash on me like 3 times while working on this song, lol. Anyway thanks for the review!

Just writing music, I hope to produce someday, so check out my stuff will ya?
